Genk’s sporting director Dimitri de Conde has confirmed that West Ham United target Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye is edging closer to joining Premier League rivals Burnley instead.

Earlier in the summer, when discussing Burnley’s interest in him, one of the most creative forwards in the whole of Europe made it clear that the admiration between he and Clarets boss Vincent Kompany is very much a two-way street.

“I have learned that he (Kompany) appreciates my qualities. Of course, that is nice to hear,” 24-year-old Tresor told Het Laatste Nieuws

“He plays with Burnley with a certain philosophy in which I would feel good. For me, playing style has always been important when choosing a club.”

Burnley close in on Genk star Mike Tresor

As you might expect from a man who cut his tactical teeth at Manchester City, Kompany’s style revolves around a stylish possession-based gameplan. One that should suit Tresor – who’s tally of 24 assists were bettered by only one player on the continent last term – down to the ground.

According to Het Laaste Nieuws, the former Willem II talisman has been left out of Genk’s squad for their UEFA Conference League qualifier against Adana Demirspor.

Burnley have reportedly agreed terms with Tresor, with De Conde now confirming that talks are underway.

“As far as Mike is concerned, negotiations with Burnley are currently ongoing,” De Conde says (HLN).

The deal is not yet ‘complete’ but, De Conde adds, it is ‘getting closer and closer.

“Mike’s file is the only one that’s very active right now. The rest is still difficult to predict, also with regards to incomings,” the director explains.

“These are stressful days, but I have faith in a happy ending.”

According to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, there is also interest from West Ham United in Tresor. The Rote Duivels international may feel that first-team football is more attainable at Burnley, however, after David Moyes landed James Ward-Prowse and Mohammed Kudus while retaining the services of Manchester City target Lucas Paqueta.
