Everton could lose Alex Iwobi in the final week of the Premier League transfer window as the Nigeria international holds talks over a reunion with Marco Silva at Fulham.
With Timothy Castagne through the door and Lucas Ocampos joining him, a difficult summer could still have a happy ending for a Fulham side looking to reinvest the near-£50 million fee earned via the sale of Aleksandr Mitrovic to Saudi Arabia.
Castagne joins in a £13 million deal from Leicester City. The Cottagers have now agreed a fee with Europa League winners Sevilla for Ocampos too; an experienced Argentina international and one of the continent’s more underrated forwards over the last few seasons (Telegraph).

And, in Alex Iwobi, Marco Silva could also find himself sharing a dressing room once again with a player he was determined to sign during the summer of 2019 at Goodison Park (Sky Sports).
Alex Iwobi in talks to leave Everton for Fulham
“Alex was one of our main targets for this window,” former Everton boss Silva said back in 2019, Everton agreeing a £35 million fee with Arsenal (The Guardian). “I believe he is a fantastic signing. He is a direct and skilful winger and attacking midfielder, who always works very hard for his team.
“Alex fits exactly the profile of player I want in my model.”
Iwobi might not have lived up to his eye-watering price-tag at Goodison Park. But Fulham, under Silva, have established themselves as something of a launch pad for underperforming players in need of a fresh start.
Bernd Leno, Andreas Pereira and Willian, among others, were outstanding as the Cottagers secured a top-half finish in 2022/23.

Iwobi, meanwhile, has just one year left on his Everton contract. The cash-strapped Toffees may jump at the chance to cash in before the month is out, then. While the additions of Jack Harrison, Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma have improved Sean Dyche’s options in wide areas.
And that’s without mentioning the emergence of young Lewis Dobbin either.
