Andy Robertson has admitted that Darwin Nunez ‘isn’t happy’ at his lack of minutes for Liverpool.

This comes after Jurgen Klopp’s side produced a quite stunning and dramatic 2-1 win at Newcastle United on Sunday at St James’ Park, with Darwin Nunez coming off the bench and netting a brace, including a stoppage-time goal.

It was a masterclass in finishing from the 24-year-old, with Andy Robertson describing the finishing of his Liverpool teammate as ‘unbelievable’, as he told Premier League Productions (27/08/23 at 7:25 pm).

But it seems as though Nunez entered the field yesterday with a thing or two to prove because, prior to the Newcastle game, he had only played 24 minutes of football during the early stages of the new Premier League season.

Well, you can bet your bottom dollar that is now going to change because he has sent out a message to all with that performance from the bench.

Even if it was 11 v 11, it would still have been an incredible display from the Uruguay star, but to do it when your team is down to ten men, is just next-level quality, with Robertson sharing his thoughts.

“Unbelievable,” said Robertson about Nunez. “I think a lot of people would have written us off at half-time, being down to ten men and not playing our best football.

“That was the message at half-time, ‘we are going to need every sub in there’ – Darwin came on and he caused his threat in behind and his finishing is unbelievable.

“We have competition in them places. I heard Michael (Owen) saying that he probably isn’t happy at not playing as many minutes so far this season and you are probably right.

“But it’s about showing that attitude when you come onto the pitch. It’s about scoring goals, causing the defenders problems and making the manager have something to think about. I think Darwin done that.”

Fired up Nunez

It probably wasn’t intentional, but it seems as though Klopp has fired up his big-money signing, who will be banging on his door to start against Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side visit Anfield on Sunday, with Nunez hoping to rip through a team that has won three on the bounce in all competitions.

Surely Klopp will unleash Nunez because you just know that he is going to cause chaos, like he always does, but this time with goals to boot.
