Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are joining the race to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko ahead of the transfer deadline.

PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko continues to attract major interest with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur now keen.

That is according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who claims that Newcastle and Tottenham are now making ‘last minute checks’ on Bakayoko.

It’s stated that both Newcastle and Spurs sent scouts to watch Bakayoko against Rangers at Ibrox on Tuesday night.

The interest is described as ‘genuine’ with Newcastle and Tottenham now ready to scout Bakayoko again before deadline day.

PSV take on Rangers in the second leg of their Champions League play-off clash on Wednesday and scouts will seemingly be in attendance.

PSV don’t want to lose Bakayoko before Wednesday’s game, of course, but defeat could see them cash in amid rising Premier League interest.

Everton and Burnley are interested with a fee of around £30million allegedly needed in order to land Bakayoko.

Who is Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur target Johan Bakayoko?

Bakayoko was born in Belgium and has spent time in the ranks of many clubs over there.

OH Leuven, Club Brugge, Mechelen and Anderlecht all had Bakayoko on their books at some point but he has really kicked on in the Netherlands.

Bakayoko joined PSV in 2019 and excelled for the Jong PSV team, racking up 20 goals in 55 appearances.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a real breakout season last term, notching seven goals in 33 first-team appearances for PSV.

Bakayoko certainly benefited from PSV selling Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke, and has caused real problems cutting in from the right flank onto his left foot.

Four assists in three Champions League qualifying games has help showcase Bakayoko’s talent and it’s no surprise that Premier League clubs are watching.

Agent Gerard Witters has previously stated that Bakayoko has always been ‘very explosive’ but has now improved his decision-making, leaving PSV to feel that he is ahead of the curve with his development.

It may be early for a Premier League move but with Spurs and Newcastle seemingly chasing more pace in the final third, Bakayoko could be a late target.
