‘I love him’: Liverpool tipped to sign ‘physically strong’ PL star if Mo Salah leaves

Stan Collymore has tipped Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to sign Bryan Mbeumo if Mo Salah heads for Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool have made it clear that they won’t let their star man go, but at the end of the day, money talks and the club have already let two of their big names leave for the Middle East this summer – Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

Former striker Collymore expressed his appreciation for Brentford hitman Bryan Mbeumo and how he is someone he would like at Anfield if Mo Salah joins the Saudi side, Al-Ittihad, as he told CaughtOffside.

With Ivan Toney serving a suspension, you would think that would serve trouble for Thomas Frank’s side, but it has been far from it.

One of the reasons behind that has been the form of Mbeumo and how he has taken the goalscoring load off his side.

The 24-year-old has three from three this term, including six since the start of the year, nonetheless, Collymore wants the ‘quality’ and ‘physically strong’ Premier League star to be considered by Liverpool.

“Interestingly, it’s actually one of Toney’s Brentford teammates that I think top sides should be taking a closer look at – Bryan Mbeumo,” said Collymore. “I love him! – It may surprise some of you, but Mbeumo is my favourite player in the Premier League.

“I think he’s quality. Whenever I watch him, he gets the ball close to his feet, he’s very direct, he makes excellent runs in the channels, he can drop deep, he holds the ball up really well, he is very supportive of his striking partner, he gets in the box and poaches goals, he’s physically strong.

“I could go on and on. He’s a great player! – If Salah does end up leaving Liverpool this summer then I certainly think Jurgen Klopp should consider Brentford’s number 19.”

Mo Salah, not for sale, at any cost?

Whilst it’s obvious that Salah isn’t for sale and the club would bat away any offers from Saudi Arabia, what would result in them accepting an offer? There are suggestions that he is talking to Al-Ittihad.

Everyone has their price, at the end of the day. At least £100 million? Or would they say no to that?

Perhaps it would have to be closer to £150 million because of how close it is to the deadline.

Either way, the Reds need to remember that Salah scored 19 Premier League goals last season, yet they still finished outside of the Champions League places, it’s not going to be as easy as they think to replace him.
