Manchester United want Sergio Reguilon but the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s salary could rule out a move to Old Trafford.
Sergio Reguilon may miss out on a shock move to Manchester United due to his salary at Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that United are looking into signing Reguilon this week.
United left back Luke Shaw has picked up an injury and could miss a number of months whilst backup Tyrell Malacia is also injured.
That means Erik ten Hag and co are looking to dip back into the transfer market for a new left back, which will surely be a loan deal.
Reguilon is one target fore United given that he appears to have absolutely no future under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
However, it’s stated that Regeuilon’s salary is an issue and may be beyond what United want to pay for a fill-in left back.
It’s unclear just how much Reguilon earns at Tottenham but it’s worth remembering that he completed a £28million move from Real Madrid three years ago.
You have to imagine that Reguilon is earning decent money at Tottenham and United seemingly aren’t too keen on paying up.

Tottenham would love to offload Sergio Reguilon
Spurs fans were so excited when Reguilon arrived in 2020 having dazzled on loan at Real’s La Liga rivals Sevilla.
Reguilon was so impressive going forward and looked like becoming the long-term answer for Tottenham at left back.
There have been bright moments but Reguilon has largely flattered to deceive and was quickly out of the plans under Antonio Conte.

Reguilon was loaned out to Atletico Madrid last season and started just two league games, meaning his career is heading in the completely wrong direction.
Reguilon needs to try and get back on track and a loan move to United may just give him that chance.
Tottenham would no doubt love to see a deal happen; they need to trim numbers in their squad and Reguilon is nowhere near the starting XI.
Much will depend on that salary though with Tottenham maybe having to contribute a hefty percentage in order to make a deal happen.
