Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly facing competition from Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to ESPN, AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, a player Tottenham Hotspur want as well.

ESPN has reported that Roma want to sign former Manchester United striker Lukaku on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Mourinho signed the striker for Manchester United from Everton in 2017 and is “keen on a reunion” with the £300,000-a-week Belgian, according to the report.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Roma plan to make a loan bid for the 30-year-old striker today.

Roma’s interest in Lukaku will come as a blow for Tottenham Hotspur, who have been linked with the Chelsea striker as well.

Calciomercato reported last week that Tottenham have held “preliminary contacts” over a move for the Belgium international striker.

Earlier this month, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reported on his website that Spurs are interested in the former Everton striker.

It was unlikely that Chelsea would sell or even loan Lukaku to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

After all, Chelsea and Tottenham are London rivals, and both clubs are in the race for the Premier League top four this season.

So, why would Chelsea just let Lukaku leave for Spurs and make the North London outfit stronger?

Lukaku has made 278 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored 121 goals and provided 35 assists in those matches.
