David Moyes’s West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Scott McTominay from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney has reported in the Reading the Game newsletter (3:31pm, August 25, 2023) that West Ham United “retain an interest” in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
The reporter has added that the Hammers are still trying to get a deal done for Ajax star Muhammad Kudus.
Delaney wrote: “On that, many scouts were in attendance for United’s recent friendlies against Burnley and Everton, as the Old Trafford hierarchy seek to make sales.
“It was really only McTominay that impressed, although the price is currently quite high for clubs looking.
“Summing up the previous point, United would seek to use the money to bring in Amrabat.
“West Ham United retain an interest in McTominay, as they continue to negotiate on Ajax’s Muhammad Kudus.”
West Ham United should not pay over the top for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay
In our view, West Ham United should not pay too much money for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in the summer transfer window.
Yes, McTominay is a very good and dynamic midfielder who has earned 41 caps for Scotland and has done well for Manchester United in the Premier League.

And he has experience of playing in major European club competitions as well.
However, West Ham are not desperate to bring in a new midfielder and should not pay over the top for McTominay, who is “underrated and undervalued”, according to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood on talkSPORT in March 2023.
After all, the Hammers have already signed Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse in the summer transfer window.
West Ham manager David Moyes also has Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek at his disposal.
Where would McTominay play in the West Ham first team?
