Peter Grant has backed Glen Kamara to be a ‘big player’ for Daniel Farke’s Leeds United ahead of his possible transfer from Michael Beale’s Rangers.

The Celtic legend noted how Glen Karama’s time is up at Rangers, as he falls down the pecking order and struggles to even make the matchday squad.

Leeds are trying to build again after their relegation and Grant thinks that Kamara ‘can’t ask for a much better club’ and fanbase at Elland Road to join, as he told Go Radio.

The 27-year-old, who was at Arsenal as a youngster before being let go in 2017, was a key member of the Steven Gerrard side that delivered title number 55 in Scotland.

But since then, he has gone backwards amid talk of his future and suggestions that he is wanted by Leeds.

Former Celtic man Grant has backed Kamara to find his form again in Yorkshire and how this will be a very good move for the defensive-minded midfielder.

“His performances have got to go up, you know he is capable of it, he has the quality,” said Grant.

“He will want to go out there and go to a team that gives him an opportunity to play, then it’s up to him and he has the talent to do it. There is no doubt about that.

“He is going to a good club in Leeds. He can’t ask for much better. Fantastic support, fanbase and expectation. All the things he has had at Rangers. He couldn’t really handpick a better club to go to.

“And he has a manager in Daniel Farke, who has won the Championship a few times with Norwich, so I think that’s something that could suit him. I think he will be a big player for them.”

Farke has started well

Given the outside noise, player after player leaving on loan, having to pick up a team that has just been relegated, a defence all over the place and players refusing to play, then it should be pointed out that Farke has started well.

The performances by Leeds are far better than the results suggest and he is warming to a previously annoyed Yorkshire faithful.

If those in the Elland Road boardroom can get Farke what he wants from the transfer market, with a week left before it slams shut, as well as keeping the current crop, then it won’t be too long before the team is surging up the table.
