Celtic have reportedly been informed that Mathias Kvistgaarden will be going nowhere on the cheap with Brondby demanding at least £6 million from the Scottish Premiership champions.
Reports from Scotland suggesting that Celtic would need to part with around £4 million for the highly-rated attacker, it seems, were wide of the mark. Brondby want more. And, should Mathias Kvistgaarden maintain his current rate of progress, they will be confident of getting it too.
According to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet, Brondby have not yet received a formal offer for Kvistgaarden. That could soon change, however; Celtic turning their attention to the Scandinavian market once again after bringing in Sweden international Gustaf Lagerbielke from Elfsborg and Norwegian starlet Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga.
Kvistgaarden will cost more than both players put together.

Brondby are ‘demanding’ £6 million.
What’s more, the club’s managing director has made it clear that selling Kvistgaarden before the window closes next week is not something they had in mind.
Celtic like Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden
“In the beginning, (selling Kvistgaarden) was not part of the plan,” Carsten Jensen tells TV3 when asked about those Celtic links.
Jensen is, however, reluctant to entirely rule out further sales this month. And Celtic’s insipid Scottish League Cup defeat to Kilmarnock may encourage the Hoops to step up their interest in a man who scored 10 goals and set up four more during the 2022/23 campaign.
“We are still in business, in relation both to incomings or outgoings,” the director adds. “We have to adjust the number (of players) in the squad still, even though we are about to be where we want to be.
“At least, (the deadline is) starting to get closer. We have our eyes and ears open in relation to a few more positions.”

A 21-year-old centre-forward who can also play out wide; Kvistgaarden has, to quote Danish website 3Point, ‘taken some significant steps in his development’ of late.
As his tally of four assists attests to, he is now a creator as well as a goalscorer. An all-round number nine who’s decision-making and passing range – coupled with his pace, pressing and work-rate – has come on leaps and bounds over the last 12 months or so.
