Dharmesh Sheth says West Ham United transfer target Romelu Lukaku is training alone for Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
The 30-year-old returned to Chelsea this summer, after his second loan spell with Inter, but just as he has entered the building at Stamford Bridge, there is talk of an exit being talked about.
Sky reporter Sheth spoke about Romelu Lukaku being in ‘limbo’, with a possible transfer to Juventus not advancing, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (22/08/23 at 5:10 pm).
That probably opens the door for a team like West Ham United to sign the Belgium forward, David Moyes’ side are hopeful of signing him.
The Hammers are spending the Declan Rice money, with a number of new faces arriving this summer, including James Ward-Prowse, who assisted two on his debut.
But that forward line needs bulking up and someone like Lukaku would suit what West Ham are trying to build, with transfer expert Sheth dropping this update.

“He still seems to be in limbo,” said Sheth. “Chelsea are still looking at viable exit options for Romelu Lukaku.
“As things stand, Lukaku is continuing to train away from Chelsea’s first-team squad, as he has been for the past few weeks. He favours a move to Juventus and they want to do that deal, but they need to sell to fund a permanent transfer for Lukaku.
“Chelsea’s stance hasn’t changed. The ideal scenario is that they want to do a permanent deal for Lukaku. That remains the case.
“Up until now, even though Lukaku has interest from Saudi Arabia, he is saying ‘I still have something to offer to European football. I don’t need to make that move to Saudi’.”

Lukaku would be an ideal player for West Ham
West Ham are a team that sits deep, like to hit teams on the counter, and if need be, will go more direct than others.
Someone like Lukaku, who was dubbed ‘world class’ by Thomas Tuchel (Independent), would thrive in a David Moyes system because they would play around him and he would also be an upgrade on Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.
The only question would be. Would Lukaku want to move? He seems to want Champions League football and trying to remain at the top of the tree, even though his performances have declined in recent times.
