Rangers manager Mick Beale is playing down reports that Glen Kamara is set for an imminent £5.5 million move to Championship outfit Leeds United.
Following a summer of near-endless frustration at Elland Road, this latest setback may not come as too much of a surprise. The Leeds United fanbase have got used to let downs, after all. Yes, we are looking at you Wilfried Gnonto.
The Scottish Sun reported on Tuesday that Leeds were on the verge of sealing a £5.5 million move for Rangers misfit Glen Kamara, Daniel Farke’s side seemingly fighting off competition from Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Coventry City for a player he has been ‘desperate’ to sign ever since returning to English football following a spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

But, following Rangers’ 2-2 Champions League play-off draw with PSV Eindhoven later on the same day, Farke’s opposite number seemed nonplussed by suggestions that Kamara would soon be packing his bags and crossing Hadrian’s Wall.
Leeds United want Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara
“Nothing,” Beale said when asked if he had heard anything about Kamara heading to Leeds.
“(Unless) anything has happened whilst we’re preparing for the game, there’s nothing concrete on that right now.”
Kamara, a £50,000 bargain signing from Dundee back in 2020, was conspicuous by his absence once again when PSV came to town. Beale has already confirmed that he will not stand in the Finland international’s way; Nicolas Raskin, Jose Cifuentes and Kieran Dowell pushing Kamara further down the pecking order.

Leeds, meanwhile, need midfield reinforcements after losing Tyler Adams to AFC Bournemouth. And if they can get a deal for Kamara over the line, former Leeds and Rangers forward Ross McCormack is convinced that the 27-year-old could be an outstanding value-for-money addition to Farke’s roster.
“Every single game Glen plays he’s at least a 7.5 out of 10. He doesn’t give the ball away and he’d give (Leeds) great stability,” McCormack tells the Daily Mail. “He’s more than good enough for the level.
“He’s got over 50 caps, and played regularly for Rangers in Europe. What he can pass on to young players like Gray is invaluable.
“Glen would be a great addition. He’d have a steadying influence; a good pro that could lead by example and help keep everyone together.”
