Glenn Hoddle says Mykhailo Mudryk ‘hasn’t shown anything’ at Chelsea after his Arsenal transfer snub in January.
The 22-year-old was determined to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal during the January transfer window, but in the end, he opted to join Chelsea – this is despite the player sending hint after hint on his socials.
Former Chelsea man Hoddle says ‘there is a player waiting to come out’ in Mykhailo Mudryk, but he hasn’t shown it yet, as he told Premier League Productions (21/08/23 at 2:10 pm).
From his 19 games for Chelsea, he is yet to open the scoring and has only supplied two assists.
In comparison, Leandro Trossard, the player Arsenal signed instead of the Ukraine star, has two goals and ten assists from 24 games for the Gunners.
Some might think that it’s a blessing in disguise for Arteta, with Hoddle sharing that Mudryk has been invisible in the Premier League so far.

“Mudryk hasn’t shown anything at Chelsea, like he did when they bought him,” said Hoddle.
“There is a player in there waiting to come out. It’s Poch that has to go in there and find out all these individuals, then he will know what his best team is. That is going to take time.”

Mudryk would have faired better at Arsenal
Yes, the player still looks very raw and he needs more time to adapt to the Premier League, but Chelsea was never a great fit for him.
Mudryk walked into a mess, with or without him, Chelsea still would have finished in the bottom half last season.
If he had moved to the Emirates instead, then the all-action speedster would have joined a more settled team and environment that would have allowed him to progress quicker than he already is.
