Darren Ambrose says he is ‘disappointed’, from a Tottenham perspective, that Ivan Toney wants to join Arsenal from Brentford.
The former Premier League midfielder has previously expressed how he would like Tottenham to sign Ivan Toney to replace Harry Kane – he dubbed the Englishman as ‘exceptional’.
But the England striker has expressed his admiration for Arsenal and Ambrose thinks you could possibly sign the player on the ‘cheap’, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (21/08/23 at 7:35 pm).
Toney is currently serving an FA ban for breaking betting rules and he can play again on January 17.
He scored 20 Premier League goals last season, and after he has served his ban, a host of clubs will surely knock on Brentford’s door for Toney.
Ambrose reacted to the ice-cool striker expressing his love for Arsenal – Toney stated in a recent interview that he likes watching the team.

“I am disappointed that he said ‘Arsenal is his preferred destination’ being a Spurs supporter,” said Ambrose.
“I think you could get him on the cheap now. I am surprised Brentford haven’t had any interest up until now.”

Toney would elevate Arsenal
At the age of 27, Toney is at the peak of his powers and it could even be argued that he can get better.
Arsenal spread their goals with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all hitting double figures last season.
Bringing in Toney would elevate a team trying to push for the Premier League title and it would be interesting to see if they push for him in January.
