Tottenham Hotspur like Lille striker Jonathan David, though his price tag could be a problem for the north London club.

Speaking on The Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano suggested that Tottenham could make a move for Jonathan David as they look to replace Harry Kane after sending scouts to go watch the 23-year-old.

However, the Italian journalist also stated that the player’s €60m (£51m) price tag is a bit of an issue for Spurs.

“Jonathan David, for example, is another player they appreciate,” Romano said. “Very good striker, doing very well at Lille since a long time. Tottenham have been tracking him for a long time. They sent their scouts multiple times in France to keep an eye on Jonathan David to see his progress.

“The problem is the price because the feeling is that Jonathan David is worth something around €60m.”

Tottenham should consider making a move for Jonathan David

Tottenham are coping without Kane for now. Ange Postecoglou’s men beat Manchester United 2-0 last Saturday after drawing 2-2 with Brentford the week prior.

Still, you have to wonder how long that will last for, especially with Richarlison leading the line at the moment.

His Everton form is yet to appear at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Brazil international having managed to score just one Premier League goal since arriving from Goodison Park.

When you consider that, it would be wise for Postecoglou to add another centre-forward to his squad, and David looks like a good option.

The Canada star has been on fire during his time at Lille, scoring 24 goals in Ligue 1 last term.

There is no guarantee that he will transfer that kind of form over to north London, but Spurs look like they could really do with a new striker right now and David’s numbers surely make him worth a punt.

If not and Tottenham decide that they also do not want to turn elsewhere, then Richarlison is going to have to really step up at some point.
