The agent of Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has rubbished reports linking him with Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

A couple of weeks ago, the Brazilian branch of ESPN reported that Nottingham Forest were already bracing themselves for big offers from big clubs. So impressive and so influential since Danilo’s £17 million arrival from Palmeiras in the January transfer window, Steve Cooper’s side are allegedly under no illusions that the sharks will start circling sooner rather than later.

So when reports emerged on Wednesday suggesting that Liverpool and Tottenham were running the rule over the all-action midfielder, it was tempting to wonder if Danilo’s Nottingham Forest career was coming to an end after just seven short months.

“There are reports that Tottenham and Liverpool are interested in the player,” Brazilian reporter Jorge Nicola explains via his official YouTube channel.

After discussing the situation with Danilo’s camp, however, Nicola had some good news for the Forest supporters fearing a tense end to the window.

“Before recording this video, I talked to Tiago Salles, who is one of Danilo’s representatives. (Salles) has been responsible for the player’s career for a long time,” Nicola adds. “Tiago insisted that (the Spurs and Liverpool links) are fake.

“(He said); ‘There is no offer for us. I imagine that, if Danilo has a good season, he could be an option for these clubs in a year’.”

A year, however, is still a long way away.

For the time being, Danilo is fully focused on his current employers, and on picking up where he left off at the end of 2022/23. Danilo scored in three successive Premier League games in the spring, finding the net in massive wins over Brighton and Southampton as Steve Cooper’s side avoided the drop.

Do not rule out even more goals this season. Especially if Forest succeed in bringing in a deep-lying ‘number six’ who would give Danilo even more freedom to join the attack. Ibrahim Sangare and Wilmar Barrios are targets, while Forest have reportedly submitted a £30 million bid for Benfica’s Casemiro-like ball-winner Florentino Luis

Liverpool, meanwhile, should bring an end to their own midfielder hunt with Wataru Endo on his way from Stuttgart.
