West Ham United are now in talks to sign former Arsenal central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart.
Konstantinos Mavropanos is becoming West Ham United’s top defensive target after Harry Maguire’s move from Manchester United collapsed.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who has taken to Twitter to report on West Ham transfer news.
Sheth reports that West Ham are now in direct talks with Stuttgart over a deal to bring Mavropanos back to the Premier League.
The Hammers are quickly moving onto their next top centre back target having seen a deal for Harry Maguire collapse on Tuesday.
Despite agreeing a fee for Maguire, the Manchester United defender seemingly won’t be heading to West Ham this summer.
That means West Ham now need to move on to another centre back option with Mavropanos now seemingly becoming the new focus.
West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten was last with Leverkusen and may well be aware of Mavropanos from his Bundesliga displays with Stuttgart.

Konstantinos Mavropanos in line for Premier League return with West Ham United
Mavropanos may well be tempted by a move to West Ham having previously made a move to London with Arsenal.
The Gunners pounced to sign Mavropanos from PAS Giannina in his native Greece back in January 2018, paying just £1.8million.
Mavropanos played just eight times for Arsenal though as he struggled to break through with the Gunners.

After a 2020 spell on loan at Nurnberg, Mavropanos spent two years on loan with Stuttgart before turning the move permanent for just £3million last summer.
Mavropanos has been vital for Stuttgart and has even shown his goalscoring ability with eight goals across the last two seasons.
A 6ft 4in defender, Mavropanos was hailed as ‘fearless’ by Ian Wright during his time at Arsenal but it just wasn’t to be.
Mavropanos may now have another chance to shine in the Premier League and potentially show Arsenal what they’re missing.
