Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now reportedly about to miss out on the signing of Romeo Lavia to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia, who has been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

Romano reported interest from Liverpool in Lavia last week, claiming that the Reds were trying to bring him to Anfield.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Chelsea could get a deal done for the 19-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder on Tuesday.

90min reported on Monday that Liverpool want to sign Lavia and are trying to get a deal done with Southampton.

The Guardian reported on Monday that Liverpool were concerned that the former Manchester City prospect would prefer a move to Chelsea to a transfer to Anfield.

Romeo Lavia blow for Liverpool, joy for Chelsea

Chelsea announced the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday.

Sky Sports reported that Liverpool wanted to secure the services of Caicedo in the summer transfer window.

However, the Ecuador international midfielder was adamant that he only wanted to move to Chelsea.

Liverpool could not sign Caicedo.

And now it seems that Liverpool could miss out on Lavia as well.

It would be a massive blow for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.

Liverpool lost Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the summer transfer window.

The Merseyside club need to sign at least one defensive midfielder before the window closes.

It seems that Liverpool will now have to try to find someone else to fill that position.
