Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has said that Eric Dier is part of his squad and is not leaving.
Ange Postecoglou has told Football.London that Eric Dier remains available for selection for Tottenham Hotspur.
Postecoglou did not include Dier in the matchday squad for Tottenham against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday.
The England international, who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder, had earlier removed everything related to Tottenham from his Instagram bio.
There is also speculation that the £85,000-a-week (Spotrac) player is off to Saudi Arabia.
Tottenham boss Postecoglou, though, seems positive that Dier remains part of his team.
Postecoglou said: “Eric is part of this team. We left a few out today. We left some players on the bench today that are very good players.
“We need a strong squad, it’s not about 11 players. Eric is in the same boat as all the other boys. He’s working hard in training and available for selection.
“My decisions then are what I think will give us the best chance of success for any given game and then we reassess the week after. Nothing really unusual there.”
Eric Dier could struggle to get into Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur team
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou not including Eric Dier in his team for the opening Premier League game of the season is really bad news for the defender.
Dier has been pretty much a regular for Spurs over the past two or three years, but it seems that under Postecoglou, he is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup or even the squad.

The 29-year-old is at the top of his game at the moment, and it will be a blow for him to know that he will now have to prove himself all over again to a new manager.
It could be tough for Dier to now play week in and week out for Tottenham.
Dier has made 270 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The defender has scored 12 goals, given nine assists, and kept 86 clean sheets in those games.
