The former Premier League defender stated on Twitter that Anthony Gordon was ‘on fire’ as he assisted Sandro Tonali for Newcastle United’s opening goal.
Even though summer signing Harvey Barnes was on the bench, Howe decided to start Gordon on the left channel and he caused Matty Cash all sorts of problems.
Both in offence and defence, the 22-year-old was aggressive, tenacious and quick-thinking in his play, as he played his part in the Aston Villa players not being able to settle on the ball.

The forward options Eddie Howe has the luxury to pick from is quite incredible and it could take the club a long, long way this season.
Many are writing the team off and how they won’t be able to come with Champions League and Premier League football this term.
Well, time will tell on that one, but one thing is for sure, they are going to score goals for fun because they have a number of players that have the capability of hitting double figures this term.
