Liverpool appear to have beaten Chelsea in the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has swung in Liverpool’s favour.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy, who claimed on Twitter late on Thursday night that ‘there has been a swing in the deal’.

Reddy claimed that Caicedo was at least open to joining Liverpool and the Reds had seemingly overtaken Chelsea in the race.

This deal seemed to move rapidly from there.

In the very early hours of the morning, Fabrizio Romano reported that Brighton were now ready to accept a staggering proposal worth £110million for Caicedo.

Romano claims that Liverpool have submitted their offer and Caicedo looks set to become a Liverpool player within hours with a medical now imminent.

Nobody really saw this pursuit coming and The Telegraph were the first to report that Liverpool were making moves for Caicedo.

That sent shockwaves through the Premier League and it looks like Liverpool are now getting closer to a quite stunning deal for Caicedo, who has been branded ‘incredible’ by Adam Lallana.

Chelsea face missing out on Liverpool target Moises Caicedo

Chelsea have been chasing Caicedo all summer and had an offer of £80million rejected at the end of July.

The Blues have been weighing up another bid but have also been eyeing other midfielders.

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams was undergoing a medical with Chelsea on Thursday after the Blues activated his £20million release clause.

Then there is Romeo Lavia, who Chelsea launched a £48million bid for on Wednesday after three Liverpool bids were rejected.

The Reds appear to have pivoted to Caicedo just as Chelsea go in for Lavia, with the two sides – who meet in the Premier League this weekend – going head to head in the midfield race.

Chelsea will press ahead with the Adams deal but will now to decide whether to make another last-gasp move for Caicedo or go for Lavia at half the price.
