Tottenham Hotspur have accepted a bid from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane – but the deal certainly isn’t done yet.

Harry Kane was leaning towards staying with Tottenham Hotspur as recently as this morning as Bayern Munich chase a deal.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour, who has been speaking live on air this morning.

The Athletic report that Tottenham have now accepted a €100million (£86.5million) bid from Bayern for Kane.

The decision is now with Kane and it doesn’t sound like it’s absolutely guaranteed that he will be jumping at the move to Germany.

Gilmour claims that, as recently as this morning, Kane was leaning towards staying with Tottenham.

Given that The Athletic suggest that the bid was actually accepted on Wednesday, that’s a very interesting claim.

Gilmour did add the caveat that things may have changed by now but the indication just a few hours ago was that Kane would be snubbing Bayern to stay at Tottenham.

The pressure is now on Kane with the bid in the public domain and Tottenham are left waiting to find out his decision.

“The deal has been agreed between the clubs, Bayern Munich and Tottenham, reaching this agreement for the England captain, 30-year-old Harry Kane with one year left on his contract, and that detail is still crucial because the decision is now over to Harry Kane,” said Gilmour.

“What we’ve been saying throughout the summer is that, if the clubs agreed a deal, that Harry Kane would be open to formally speaking to Bayern Munich but equally would be relaxed if he did stay at Tottenham before the window [shuts].”

“The latest information this week and even into today is that Harry Kane is leaning towards staying with Tottenham. We need to check if that is still the case but, as of this morning, Harry Kane was still leaning towards staying with Tottenham.”

“A deal has now been agreed and that now puts the pressure on Harry Kane,” he added.

Tottenham fans given glimmer of hope over Harry Kane

This will only serve to give Tottenham fans hope over Kane staying, which could of course come crumbling down in the coming days.

Kane faces a tough decision but it does feel like this isn’t completely done and dusted.

Kane would be pretty much giving up the chance to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record; he’s only 48 goals away from a new record.

Bayern would give Kane the chance to win league titles but is there much beyond that?

The German giants haven’t looked like a major Champions League threat in the last couple of years, crashing out in the quarter-finals twice in a row.

Kane seems to be enjoying life under Ange Postecoglou and may well sense a chance to get Tottenham back on track if he stays, and even if Spurs don’t move forward, he can still leave for nothing next summer.

Tottenham have accepted the bid but Kane has much to think about – and it sounds like staying at Spurs is still a serious possibility.
