Gary Neville thinks Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Harry Maguire won’t join West Ham United from Manchester United this summer.

But the Manchester United legend made it clear that, if West Ham can get a deal done for the hard-hitting centre-back, then he would be a ‘fantastic’ capture.

Sky Sports pundit Neville also spoke about David Moyes possibly signing Scott McTominay, alongside Harry Maguire this summer, and how they ‘need signings like that desperately’, as he told The Overlap

In regards to Maguire, the Hammers aren’t the only ones keen on the 30-year-old because there are suggestions that Tottenham might look to sign the player.

Ange Postecoglou is in need of centre-backs this summer, with Micky van de Ven already through the doors, but more are needed.

Nonetheless, when discussing the future of Maguire, this was what Neville had to say about it all.

“I saw last week that West Ham were linked with Maguire and McTominay,” said Neville. “I don’t think Harry will go there, to be honest.

“But if they were to get those two players, not saying they will replace Declan Rice, but in terms of strength, personality and performance levels. I know people will mock what’s happening with Harry, at the moment.

“But he is a bloody good defender and, for West Ham, he would be a fantastic signing – if they could those two players in, then they could have a good season. They need signings like that desperately.”

Will Maguire seal West Ham switch?

As of this moment, Maguire is still training in Manchester United colours, but rumours are doing the rounds that he could be edging towards a move to the London Stadium.

It has been suggested that he is ‘open’ to a one to East London, after he was stripped of the captain’s armband this summer.

That call be Erik ten Hag was a big enough signal to Maguire that he needs to pack his bag and start a new chapter elsewhere.
