Jurgen Klinsmann says Richarlison would be a ‘top-class’ replacement if Harry Kane leaves Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The German legend has already made his feelings clear on those transfer links with Bayern Munich and he has now backed Richarlison to come out of the shadow and be the main man, if need be.

Possibly losing Harry Kane would be a massive blow to Tottenham, but Klinsmann thinks that Ange Postecoglou would still have a ‘very good team’, even without the England captain, as he told ESPN

Slowly but surely, the team is starting to come together and areas of the pitch are, on paper, starting to be resolved, including a new signing spotted at the stadium yesterday.

But there is still a long way to go, and truth be told, if Kane does join Bayern, then it will be very difficult for those associated with the club to deal with – Graham Roberts could believe what he was hearing about the Englishman.

You couldn’t blame fans, the manager or anyone else to be negative about that, but, not for Klinsmann.

“Even if I think, the replacement, should Harry leave, Richarlison, it’s a top-class replacement,” said Klinsmann.

“Richarlison sits on the bench because there is Harry Kane. And they mostly played in a 4-2-3-1 system, where there was no space for a second striker.

“I would say, if Richarlison takes Harry’s spot, then it’s still a very good team. They can still challenge for the top four.”

Pressure on Richarlison

With or without Kane, this is a big season for Richarlison and he has to showcase his worth, or else, the knives will be out.

After scoring only one Premier League goal last term and showing promise during the early stages of the Champions League group stages, it was a pretty poor debut campaign, overall, in Spurs colours for the Brazil international.

If he goes down the same road again, then the fans will get on his back, so it’s paramount that he gets off to a very good start.
