Stevie Nicol thinks Daniel Levy has ‘screwed over’ manager Ange Postecoglou if Harry Kane leaves Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Liverpool legend stated that it would be ‘absolutely fantastic’ if Bayern Munich can secure the signature of the England captain.

But given how late it is in the transfer window, Nicol thinks that Daniel Levy isn’t helping his manager if Harry Kane does leave Tottenham, as he told ESPN.

From the day Ange Postecoglou walked into the club, the first question he was asked was about Kane and his future.

It’s been non-stop throughout pre-season and it will continue when the first ball is kicked for the 2023/24 Premier League season this weekend.

Given that we are in August, Nicol suggested that if Kane goes now, then this deal could have been done earlier, as he shared why it’s an issue.

“If he goes, three things,” said Nicol. “Fantastic for Harry Kane. Absolutely fantastic for Bayern Munich.

“Fantastic for Daniel Levy because he keeps this rotten reputation about taking it all the way to the very end and then getting what he likes.

“The most important thing Daniel Levy should be doing is trying to help his manager. All he does, if Harry Kane goes, is completely screw over his manager because Ange Postecoglou is going to have to start again.

“He has just spent a pre-season sorting out his team. Harry Kane, is 100% the focal point, and how many days before the kick-off? He loses Kane? It’s a completely different way of playing. You are telling me, you can pull Harry Kane out, put somebody else in and then they will play the same? There you go, that’s why he has screwed him over.”

Tottenham reject Bayern’s latest bid for Kane

It was suggested that Bayern’s most-recent offer Kane was their ‘final’ offer and it was a case of take it or leave it option.

Well, it has been rejected by Spurs and Levy, as reported by Sky Sports, but it’s thought that Bayern will still go in.

This isn’t helping Postecoglou’s cause because he needs a pretty straightforward answer and he just isn’t getting one yet.
