Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven has been spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of signing for Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur appear to be on the verge of signing Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.
Spurs have been desperate to add at least one more centre back this summer in order to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Clement Lenglet was only a stop-gap as a left-footed centre back and the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol have been out of reach.
Spurs have been targeting Van de Ven for weeks now and appear to finally have a deal in place.
Sky Sports claim that Tottenham are paying an initial £34.5million (€40million) for Van de Ven, though add-ons could take the deal up to £43million (€50million).
Sky suggested that Van de Ven could be in North London to watch Tottenham take on Shakhtar Donetsk – and that’s exactly what has happened.
Fabrizio Romano has now posted a photo of Van de Ven in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of completing his move.
A medical should be imminent for Van de Ven, who will now put the finishing touches on his move to Tottenham.
Liverpool have been interested in Tottenham Hotspur-bound Micky van de Ven
This feels like a solid signing for Spurs given their need for a left-footed centre back.
Van de Ven is big and strong at 6ft 4in tall but also has impressive pace across long distances.
Add in his ability to both pass and carry the ball out from the back and we can understand why Ange Postecoglou is keen.
This imminent deal also means that fears of a Liverpool hijack attempt have come to nothing.

The London Evening Standard reported in July that Tottenham were worried that Liverpool would move in for Van de Ven.
iNews suggested in May that Liverpool were showing a firm interest in Van de Ven and the rumours only grew stronger when Jorg Schmadtke landed a job at Liverpool.
Former Wolfsburg sporting director Schmadtke paid around €3.5million (£3million) to land Van de Ven from Volendam in 2021.
Liverpool seem to have other priorities right now though as they seek to rebuild their midfield.
That leaves Spurs in the clear to sign Van de Ven and the deal seems as good as done with the defender in North London today.
