Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that West Ham United are determined to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that West Ham United have already personal terms with Ajax defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez.

The Hammers want to close the deal with Ajax for Alvarez, who can also operate as a central defender, this week so that they can complete his signing in the coming days.

Romano has added that the 25-year-old wants to make the move to West Ham and has already agreed personal terms with the London club, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and will play in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.

Exciting Edson Alvarez update for West Ham United fans

In our opinion, West Ham United now trying to get a deal done for Edson Alvarez is very good news for the London Stadium faithful.

West Ham sold England international midfielder Declan Rice to London and Premier League rivals Arsenal a while ago.

The Hammers are yet to sign a replacement.

It seems that West Ham are now inching close to signing one.

Alvarez is a very good player who has done well in the Netherlands and is ready to take the next step in his career and move to a bigger domestic league.

During his time at Ajax so far, Alvarez has won the Eredivisie title twice and the KNVB Cup once.

We are not surprised to learn that Alvarez wants to move to the Hammers.

After all, West Ham are a big and established club in the Premier League that will be aiming to kick on and progress in the coming years.

Alvarez made 30 starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie for Ajax last season.

The defensive midfielder scored three goals and gave three assists in those games.
