Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly showing a real interest in signing Torino defender Perr Schuurs ahead of Crystal Palace.

Perr Schuurs is now wanted by Tottenham Hotspur as they consider adding another centre back this summer.

That is according to DAZN reporter Orazio Accomando, who claims that Tottenham have ‘come forward’ in the race for Schuurs.

It’s stated that Schuurs has had a verbal agreement with Crystal Palace for a while now.

However, Palace could now be hijacked as it’s stated that Tottenham are willing to pay more than the Eagles both in terms of transfer fee and wages.

Schuurs isn’t forcing a move but Accomando believes Tottenham are now a serious contender to land the Dutchman.

On the one hand, this could be a tactic to try and tempt Palace into paying more for Schuurs this summer.

On the other, Tottenham are in the market for multiple defenders this summer with a left-footer lined up in Micky van de Ven.

Right-footed centre backs have already been linked in Tosin Adarabioyo and Edmond Tapsoba, so maybe Schuurs is considered as another option there.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Perr Schuurs?

Schuurs started out in the Fortuna Sittard ranks and actually had a trial spell with Liverpool back in 2017.

A move to Anfield didn’t materialise for Schuurs but he did join Ajax a year later, first joining the Jong Ajax side.

The 6ft 3in defender did break into the first team, making 95 appearances before chasing more playing time at Torino.

Schuurs headed to Turin last summer and has made a big impact having been branded a ‘complete’ defender by boss Ivan Juric.

Schuurs is yet to win an international cap with the Netherlands but that surely won’t be far away now.

Tottenham may now fancy going for both Schuurs and Van de Ven, opening up the possibility of a Dutch centre back pairing.

The pair haven’t crossed paths in the Dutch youth setup before but Spurs moving for both players suggest they could see a strong partnership between them.
