Paul Merson has shared that he ‘never thought in a million years’ Harry Kane would secure a transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich.
But now ‘I keep hearing’ that there is a chance the 30-year-old joins Bayern Munich this month, with the Tottenham striker’s current deal to expire in less than 12 months.
The former Arsenal player was backing Harry Kane to win the Golden Boot for the forthcoming Premier League season, but that’s only if he stays at Spurs, as he told Akshun AMA on Twitter.
But, with Daniel Levy recently meeting officials at Bayern, it seems as though, Kane heading out of England and going to Germany has some legs.
The England captain is in need of trophies in his career and he understands that he won’t get that at Hotspur Way.
That’s why he is where he is, in regards to not signing a new deal this summer, as Merson backed him for the Golden Boot, even though there now seems to be some truth in these Bayern rumours.

“I’m going for Harry Kane to score the most goals this season, that’s if he stays,” said Merson. “The more I keep hearing about this Bayern Munich thing, which I thought was never going to happen in a million years.
“But it keeps on going on and on. If he stays at Tottenham, people forget what he did last season. He was in a bad Tottenham team and scored 30 Premier League goals. They finished outside of Europe. He finished six behind Haaland in the league and Tottenham really didn’t play well.
“Now, they have got Maddison, who I think will make a lot of goals for him, so I would go for Harry Kane as the top-scorer.”

If Kane stays…
Then it changes Tottenham’s season and provides some breathing space for new manager Ange Postecoglou.
It’s unfair on Tottenham’s new man because he has walked straight into a mess and things could yet get worse.
If Kane stays, as Merson mentioned, he probably win the Golden Boot, but to think, in these next few weeks, he could lose that is very worrying, on his part.
