Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Manchester City winger Carlos Borges will not join West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Manchester City winger Carlos Borges has decided to move to Ajax despite looking set to join West Ham United.

Romano has claimed that a verbal agreement is in place between Ajax and Borges.

The 19-year-old will now undergo a medical in Amsterdam and will complete his move to Dutch giants Ajax.

Romano has added that West Ham were close to sealing a deal for the Portugal Under-19 international winger, but it is Ajax who have won the race.

Carlos Borges transfer blow for West Ham United

In our opinion, West Ham United will be bitterly disappointed that they will not be able to sign Carlos Borges from Manchester City.

There was strong speculation in recent days that the Hammers were about to complete a deal for the teenager.

However, it seems that he is on the verge of signing for Ajax instead.

West Ham will now have to move on and find another winger.

Perhaps the only consolation for the Hammers is that Borges is 19 and is still unproven.

While there is no doubt about the talent that the teenager possesses, we do not know yet for sure that he would be a success in the Premier League.

Borges scored 21 goals and gave 11 assists in 24 Premier League 2 outings and ended up with 29 goals and 18 assists across 33 games in all competitions last season.

The teenager is clearly talented.

Perhaps West Ham could continue to follow Borges at Ajax, and maybe in a year or two when he has more experience and has developed more as a player, the London club could try to sign him again.
