Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are the favourites to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton, according to a new report.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting on Twitter this morning that Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia wants to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are now the favourites to secure the services of the Belgium international this summer.

Plettenberg has claimed that although Liverpool and Southampton have not agreed on a deal, talks between the Premier League club and the Championship outfit are going on.

The Saints, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, want £50 million for the former Manchester City prospect.

Plettenberg has added that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp personally wants to sign Lavia in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea have been linked with Lavia, while Arsenal are claimed to be interested in the teenager, who has been described as “incredible” by Manchester City City manager Pep Guardiola.

Exciting Romeo Lavia update for Liverpool fans

In our opinion, this latest update on the future of Romeo Lavia is very encouraging for Liverpool fans.

It seems that Lavia is keen on a move to the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners in the summer transfer window.

That will make it easier for Liverpool during talks with Southampton.

We do not think that the Saints will get the £50 million that they want for Lavia.

After all, Lavia is only 19 and Southampton will play in the Championship next season.

A transfer fee of £30 million or £35 million with add-ons would be more realistic for Southampton.

Lavia has made 29 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The teenager has scored one goal in those games.
