Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have reportedly made a second bid for Southampton defender Tino Livramento.

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United are determined to sign Tino Livramento from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that after having their initial bid turned down, Newcastle have made a second offer.

The Magpies are now ready to pay £30 million for Livramento, who was described as “absolutely fantastic” by former Arsenal and Southampton player Theo Walcott in talkSPORT in November 2021.

Southampton, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, want £50 million for the 20-year-old.

The report has added that the Saints do not actually want to sell the England Under-21 international right-back in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United should not pay £50m for Southampton right-back Tino Livramento

We do not think that Newcastle United should pay £50 million for Southampton right-back Tino Livramento in the summer transfer window.

No way.

That is simply too much for a player who is only 20 and has not really been particularly great in the Premier League.

A long-term injury affected the 20-year-old last season.

Livramento has made 30 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The former Chelsea prospect has scored one goal, given one assist, and kept six assists in those games.

In our opinion, £30 million is more than enough for Livramento.

After all, what Newcastle would be paying for is potential rather than readymade quality.

If the Magpies are unable to convince the Saints to sell Livramento for £30 million, then they should just move on and try to find someone else to play at right-back.

Newcastle will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing in the top four of the Premier League table last campaign.
