Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Kylian Mbappe, and it seems that the Gunners now have a (small) chance of signing the Paris Saint-Germain forward in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal linked with Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe

On July 2, Football Transfers reported that Arsenal want to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2024.

Mbappe is out of contract at PSG at the end of next season, and Arsenal reportedly hope to secure the services of the £893,000-a-week (The Sun) France international forward on a free transfer.

Then a few days later, journalist Miguel Delaney reported in The Independent that if Mbappe ever wanted to move to the Premier League, then Arsenal would be his ideal club.

The report claimed that “Arsenal would actually be Mbappe’s first preference if he were to ever go to the Premier League, both because he likes the evolution of Mikel Arteta’s team and would also enjoy the challenge of delivering the title to the club again”.

And now Arsenal do have a chance of signing Mbappe.

Well, a small chance.

PSG stance

PSG have left Mbappe out of their pre-season squad that is travelling to Japan.

ESPN have reported that the Ligue 1 champions are considering never playing the forward again.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that PSG are now ready to sell Mbappe.

The 24-year-old World Cup winner with France in 2018 has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid.

ESPN claimed that Mbappe wants to move to Madrid, who have everything ready to get a deal done this summer.

We do not think that Mbappe would be willing to move to Arsenal ahead of Madrid.

And the transfer fee needed would be astronomical.

However, you never know in football.

Mbappe scored 29 goals and gave five assists in Ligue 1 and scored seven goals and provided five assists in the UEFA Champions League for PSG last season.
