Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha has now been offered to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Chelsea were “presented with Palhinha as a possible alternative to top target Moises Caicedo”.

However, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners have decided to turn down the chance to sign Palhinha, who is “aggressive” according to former Manchester United winger Nani in Antena1 in November 2020.

Palhinha is 28 now and is too old for Chelsea, who are looking for young players.

Chelsea right to turn down chance to sign Joao Palhinha

In our opinion, Chelsea were right to turn down the chance to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham in the summer transfer window.

While Palhinha did well for Fulham last season, he is 28 now.

We have seen Chelsea sign a lot of young players who will be able to make an impact now as well as in the long run.

The likes of Benoit Badiashile, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk all are 22 now.

Moreover, Palhinha has had just one good season in the Premier League.

The Cottagers are also reportedly asking for £80 million.

It is just too much to pay for a player who is 28 now and is not going to have a resale value.

We believe that Chelsea did the right thing by rejecting the chance to sign the Portugal international defensive midfielder.

Palhinha made 35 appearances in the Premier League for Fulham last season.

The Portugal international midfielder scored three goals in those games.

Liverpool and West Ham United have been linked with Palhinha.

TalkSPORT has reported that the Hammers have had a bid for the Portugal international already turned down.

The Liverpool Echo has reported that Liverpool want to sign Palhinha as a potential replacement for Fabinho, who is on the verge of joining Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
