Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of another signing with Blackburn Rovers talent Ashley Phillips reportedly coming in.
Blackburn Rovers teenager Ashley Phillips is set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.
That is according to The Mirror reporter James Nursey, who claims that Tottenham are now poised to benefit from Blackburn’s financial cutbacks, with Lancs Live also reporting talks are being held.
The Venkys – who own Rovers – are allegedly being told to limit overseas investment by the Indian government.
That means Rovers are cutting their budget and will cash in on talented defender Phillips.
Nursey claims that a deal for Phillips to join Tottenham ‘should be finalised tomorrow’ with the defender ready to fly out to Asia to join Spurs on their pre-season tour.
It’s unclear just how much Tottenham will be paying for Phillips but this is a deal which has been a long time in the works.
The Daily Mail reported in August last year that Tottenham were closing in on signing Phillips but he ended up choosing to stay at Ewood Park.
Less than a year on, Tottenham now seem set to strike and finally lure Phillips down to North London.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Ashley Phillips?
Phillips has come up through the Blackburn Rovers ranks having initially been in the ranks of non-league side Curzon Ashton.
The centre back stands at a huge 6ft 4in tall and only just turned 18 last month.
Phillips has made a big impression whilst coming up at Rovers and has already made 14 first-team appearances.

Phillips has also bagged 16 caps for England across various youth levels and is considered to be a top talent for the future.
Praised as an ‘amazing footballer’ by former Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray, Phillips could become a mainstay of the Tottenham back line for years to come.
It’s unclear whether Tottenham plan to bring Phillips into their first team, loan him out or stick him in the development ranks but Spurs will be delighted to finally sign the teenager having missed out last year.
