Atlanta United are reportedly set to make an official offer to sign Fenerbahce attacker Diego Rossi, with the forward a previous young designated player for Los Angeles FC.

According to Turkish journalist Arba Birben, the Five Stripes will soon launch their first bid to bring the Uruguay international back to MLS, with Atlanta being linked with Rossi for some days as the Eastern Conference side look to add to their attacking ranks.

Rossi joined Fenerbahce in 2021 initially on loan before the Istanbul-based giants made the transfer permanent in 2022. However, the 25-year-old is now expected to leave the Turkish club this summer, with Atlanta now leading the charge.

With 10 goals and 20 assists in 90 appearances for Fenerbahce, Rossi is yet to hit the heights many expected the versatile winger to make when he moved to Europe two years ago. Yet the South American could rediscover his best form with a move back to MLS with Atlanta.

Attacking width is something Atlanta have been crying out for all summer, and Rossi could deliver that and then some if the Georgia franchise can strike a deal with Fenerbache to bring the former LAFC superstar back to the United States.

Indeed, a deal could be expensive. But with a free DP spot open and a manager in Gonzalo Pineda getting the best out of his players, Rossi could be a smash hit in Atlanta, though a transfer first has to be agreed between the Five Stripes and Fenerbahce.
