Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are now being linked with Lille forward Jonathan David as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

According to L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jonathan David from Lille in the summer transfer window.

Spurs are considering David as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are determined to sign Kane from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have identified David as a potential candidate to replace the England international striker should he leave for Bayern, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication has added that Lille are willing to sell the 23-year-old Canada international forward for €60 million (£51.55 million).

David was described as “a fantastic player” by BBC Sport pundit and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on Match of the Day in November 2022.

After all, if Kane stays in the Premier League for another two or three years, then he could easily break Alan Shearer’s goal record.

Newcastle United legend Shearer scored 260 goals in 441 appearances in the Premier League.

Kane has scored 213 goals in 320 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The point is that replacing Kane with any other striker is extremely hard.

We have to keep that in mind when discussing Jonathan David as a potential replacement for Kane at Spurs.

David is only 23 and is not the finished article yet.

But the Canada international is a very good forward who can improve and develop in the coming years.

David, who can play out wide or as a centre-forward, made 36 starts and one substitute appearance for Lille last season.

The youngster scored 24 goals and gave four assists in those games.

During the 2021-22 season, David made 32 starts and six substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lille.

The striker scored 15 goals in those games.
