Everton were showing a real interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur ace Ryan Sessegnon before another injury blow.

Ryan Sessegnon has picked up another injury and that may scupper a potential move from Tottenham Hotspur to Everton.

That is according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that Sessegnon was attracting major interest.

It’s stated that Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Marseille all wanted Sessegnon this summer.

The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Sessegnon was a player new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou wanted to offload.

The interest was there but Sessegnon seemingly won’t be on the move now.

Ryan Sessegnon suffers another injury setback

Sessegnon has undergone surgery on a hamstring injury suffered in pre-season training last week.

Hamstring problems have been a prominent problem for Sessegnon and he is now set for the sidelines once again.

Sessegnon isn’t expected to return until September, which is after the summer transfer window has closed.

That means Sessegnon will remain at Tottenham until the January transfer window and the interested clubs must go elsewhere.

This is the worst possible timing for Sessegnon.

The £25million signing from Fulham in 2019 would have wanted to impress new boss Postecoglou, especially with Destiny Udogie now in the mix.

The alternative would have been to move on, but Sessegnon won’t be doing that either now and faces a difficult few months at Spurs.

Everton must find a left back this summer

Sean Dyche may have viewed Sessegnon as a left back in four or left wing back in a five-man defence at Everton.

That has been a problem position for the Toffees since Lucas Digne’s shock sale to Aston Villa in January 2022.

Vitality Mykolenko came in to replace Digne but has yet to really impress on a consistent basis.

Ruben Vinagre arrived last summer but made next to no impact and his loan hasn’t been turned permanent.

It won’t be Sessegnon now but Everton must pivot and find another left back elsewhere if they are to progress under Dyche.
