Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram reportedly wants to move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has said on Born and Red that Liverpool are interested in signing Khephren Thuram from Nice.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Thuram himself wants to make the switch from the French club to the Premier League outfit.

Romano has added that although Liverpool want to do a deal for the 22-year-old France international midfielder, they are not happy with the current terms.

Earlier this report, The Northern Echo claimed that Newcastle United are keen on Thuram, described as “fantastic” by Nice’s former caretaker-manager Didier Digard on RMC Sport

Khephren Thuram wants to join Liverpool

Romano said, as transcribed by TBR: “For example, a player like Khephren Thuram has always been on the list at Liverpool but now the situation is more kind of cold because Liverpool are not happy with the reaction from the player’s side and the club’s side.

“So, they do believe that that deal is very expensive on both sides and this is why they decided to go for [Dominik] Szoboszlai and [Alexis] Mac Allister as priorities.

“Khephren Thuram has always been a player appreciated by Liverpool and remains a player appreciated by Liverpool. So, in case these terms can be changed in the next weeks, it could be different for Khephren Thuram.

“Obviously the player wants the Liverpool move, but you know better than me, that in football there are salaries and these kinds of costs.

“So, Liverpool want to do something smart. For example, [Romeo] Lavia will cost way less than Khephren Thuram also in terms of salaries and future costs for the club.

“This is why it’s really crucial to understand the package. At the moment the deal is on total standby, they’re not advancing.”

Could a summer transfer happen?

In our opinion, Liverpool could be able to sign Khephren Thuram from Nice in the summer transfer window.

Romano’s comments tell us that Liverpool are interested in Thuram, who himself would love to move to Anfield.

Perhaps if the Reds press on in the coming weeks, then all three parties could be able to hammer out a deal.

Thuram made 30 starts and five substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice last season.

The 22-year-old Frenchman scored two goals and gave four assists in those games.
