Tottenham Hotspur wide man Ivan Perisic is thought to be closing in on an emotional return to Croatian side Hajduk Split.

Ivan Perisic is now set to leave Tottenham Hotspur with Hajduk Split allegedly closing in on a deal.

That is according to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports that Perisic is poised to leave Tottenham after just a year at the club.

It’s stated that Perisic is now closing in on a move back to Croatia with Hajduk Split.

The Croatian side are now ‘confident’ of securing a deal with Perisic described as being ‘determined’ to return home.

The idea is for Perisic to terminate his contract at Tottenham in the coming days and then complete his move to Hajduk.

That would mean Spurs paying up the second year of Perisic’s two-year deal, which looked like solid business last summer.

The move hasn’t really worked out though with Perisic only managing one goals in 34 Premier League games last season.

Eight assists wasn’t a bad return from Perisic but Tottenham are going in a new direction under Ange Postecoglou and the 34-year-old isn’t part of the plans.

Ivan Perisic could complete emotional move to Hajduk Split

This is basically the dream move for Perisic to finish up an outstanding career.

Perisic was born in Split and supported Hajduk as a kid, even featuring in the club’s youth ranks.

Perisic moved on as a teenager, joining French side Sochaux before going on to play for Roeselare, Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Spurs.

The winger-turned-wing-back has carved out a superb carer both domestically and on the international stage.

Now though, Perisic is past the peak of his powers and the time is right for him to go and finish up with Hajduk.

Perisic would no doubt love to go and win a trophy or two with Hajduk upon his return, but this will be an emotional experience no matter what as the Spurs man nears a return to his boyhood and hometown club.
