Leeds United want to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow and are ready to battle Bournemouth for his signature.

Karl Darlow is at the centre of a Championship tug-of-war as Leeds United and Bournemouth fight for the Newcastle stopper.

That is according to Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie, who reports that Darlow could leave Newcastle this summer.

It’s stated that Leeds and Bournemouth are now battling for Darlow after Middlesbrough seemingly dropped out of the race.

Boro can’t match Darlow’s wages and seemingly won’t be signing the 32-year-old stopper.

That leaves Leeds and Bournemouth in the mix with Newcastle seemingly open to selling Darlow this summer.

The former Nottingham Forest man still has two years left on his contract and the Magpies will command a fee for him.

Neither Leeds nor Bournemouth have made offers for Darlow but the bids are expected to come in very soon.

Karl Darlow could replace Illan Meslier at Leeds United

Leeds may yet be in the market for two goalkeepers this summer as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

The Whites have already released veteran stopper Joel Robles, who actually ended the season as Sam Allardyce’s first-choice stopper.

Illan Meslier was dropped to the bench but the Frenchman is bound to attract interest having showing quality in the past.

Leeds will surely see Darlow as a first-choice goalkeeper and will be lining him up to replace Meslier between the sticks.

Darlow spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City and has more than proven himself as a top Championship goalkeeper over the years.

That’s the kind of signing Leeds will want after relegation and Darlow could become a prime target once the Whites appoint a new manager, most likely to be Daniel Farke.
