Stevie Nicol thinks Dominik Szoboszlai will start in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield ‘straightaway’ after his transfer to Liverpool.
The Anfield legend can see Liverpool’s new recruit being ahead of Jordan Henderson, who is ‘getting on a bit’, youngster Harvey Elliott and the experienced pro, Fabinho.
Dominik Szoboszlai is a more attack-minded player than two of the above trio, with Nicol adding that these are ‘exciting’ times for the Liverpool fans, as he told ESPN.
In truth, it’s not saying much that, as a new midfield signing, you will get into the XI as quickly as possible because not many players have much to shout about.
The decline of Liverpool’s midfield was their biggest issue last season and it ended up affecting all areas of the pitch.
Added with Szoboszlai, the Reds have also signed World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister to their squad after his transfer from Brighton, with Nicol sharing his thoughts.

“Everybody, when they talk about this guy, they talk about how he has more in his locker,” said Nicol.
“Well, from what I have seen, the guy ain’t bad right now. I don’t see any reason why he doesn’t go into the Liverpool side straightaway.
“If we are talking about the majority of so-called experts, we all agree that he is going to get better, so this is a great signing.
‘I don’t see who is ahead of him (in terms of starting straightaway for Klopp). Or why they should be ahead of him. Henderson is getting on a little bit. You have Harvey Elliott is getting better and more experience. He doesn’t have the football knowledge that Szoboszlai has.
“Mac Allister? Fabinho? A Fabinho, who is rested and we expect to be back to the old Fabinho – it’s exciting for Liverpool.”

Liverpool taking shape…
Players aren’t even back for pre-season and Liverpool, who aren’t known to splash the cash like their rivals, have already got two key midfield players through their doors.
Last summer, the powers that be, including Klopp, seemed to be in denial that new midfield players were needed, even though it was obvious to the fans.
They didn’t push early on in the window, and then, started making calls during the final few weeks, which resulted in a panic buy of Arthur Melo, whose time on Merseyside was ravaged by injuries.
Well, no such mistakes are made this time, as it will be interesting if more midfielders are added.
