Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly about to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Chris Wheatley on Twitter, Arsenal and Ajax have agreed a fee of £40 million for the transfer of Jurrien Timber.

The reporter, who has over 300,000 followers on Twitter, has claimed that the 22-year-old defender will now undergo a medical with Arsenal and complete his move to the North London club.

90min have claimed that the deal could be completed before the weekend.

De Telegraaf had earlier reported that Timber has an agreement in place with Arsenal and will earn £130,000 per week as salary at the Gunners if he makes the move.

Exciting update

In our opinion, that Arsenal are about to complete the signing of Jurrien Timber from Ajax is great news for the Emirates Stadium faithful.

Timber is a very good and promising young player who can operate as a central defender or as a right-back.

We believe that the youngster would make Arsenal better and would give manager Mikel Arteta another valuable option in the team.

Timber may be only 22, but he is hugely experienced with Ajax, having played regularly in the Erevisie and in major European competitions.

Arsenal have already signed Kai Havertz from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea.

And there is speculation that the Gunners are about to complete a deal to bring England international midfielder Declan Rice from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

It is really exciting for Arsenal fans at the moment.
