Dario Osorio ‘is a shadow’ of his old self with the winger’s poor form potentially hampering his chances of a move to the Premier League with Wolves or West Ham United.

Whatever the reason – whether it’s the distraction of transfer rumours or something as simple as a loss of form – the Chile international certainly isn’t the same player who exploded onto the scene last year amid a flurry of goals and comparisons with Angel di Maria, Raphinha and Gareth Bale.

Dario Osorio scored seven times for Universidad de Chile in 2022. Since the turn of the year, however, the twinkle-toed 19-year-old is yet to find the net on a single occasion, with one former player concerned about the direction of travel for the reported West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers target.

“It seems to me that Darío Osorio is nothing like Osorio from last year,” ex-Universidad ace Rodrigo Goldberg tells Radio Cooperativa. “Everyone was surprised (last year). But today, he really is a shadow of what we knew.

“The talent he has… He has a wonderful shot, a beautiful left foot. But now we don’t see any of that. It’s a shame because he’s a great player.

“Let’s hope that this bad time passes, because he is a great player who can play for the national team.”

Wolves reportedly agreed a deal with Universidad for Osorio during the summer of 2022. Julen Lopetegui’s side remain interested to this day (Express and Star).

Ex-Universidad goalkeeper Johnny Herrera, meanwhile, claims to have insider knowledge confirming that Wolves are not the only English-based club chasing arguably the most exciting young Chilean of the new generation.

“Last year, one of the majority shareholders (at Universidad) told me that (an offer) of £5.5 million arrived from West Ham,” Herrera tells TNT Sports.

“Now, one from Leicester for £6.7 million as well. I know of two offers for Osorio. One last year and this one from Leicester.”
