Arsenal defender Rob Holding may not move to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the summer transfer window, according to a report.

According to The Express, Besiktas are interested in signing Rob Holding, and the Arsenal defender is now considering moving to the Turkish giants despite apparent interest from Celtic.

The report has claimed that Holding could sign a contract extension and then join Besiktas on loan for next season.

The English defender is in talks with the Turkish club, according to The Express, who have added that “initial reports in Scotland suggested he could join champions Celtic, but Besiktas are now leading the race for his signature”.

Should Celtic get serious about Arsenal defender Rob Holding?

In our opinion, Celtic should try to get a deal done with Arsenal for defender Rob Holding.

Yes, Besiktas are in talks with the defender, but no deal has been struck yet.

There is still time for Celtic to make a move, if they want to.

When Cameron Carter-Vickers was injured last season, Celtic did not look particularly great at the back.

New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers could do with adding an experienced defender to his team, and Holding would not be a bad signing, especially on a loan deal.

Holding has done well in the Premier League when he has played, and the 27-year-old has also featured in European competitions.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described Holding as “incredible” back in January 2021, and if played regularly at Celtic, he could flourish in the Scottish Premiership.
