Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg now have clear aims after Tottenham Hotspur put both players up for sale in their first summer transfer window with Ange Postecoglou.
That is according to Paul Brown, who claims that Dier and Hojbjerg both feel they still have unfinished business at Tottenham. Neither player is ready to walk away from north London yet and intend to push on next season. But the pair have to impress Postecoglou first of all.
Tottenham appointed Postecoglou as their latest head coach earlier in June to finally fill the void Antonio Conte’s sacking left. He will officially take charge on July 1. Yet the Australian’s imminent arrival already has Dier and Hojbjerg longing to prove their worth in pre-season.

Tottenham have made Dier and Hojbjerg available for transfers
Dier and Hojbjerg hope to show Postecoglou that they still have futures at Tottenham after Spurs made the defender and midfielder available for transfers. 90min reported earlier this month that the north London club will allow both players to leave to part-fund their plans.
Tottenham signed Hojbjerg from Southampton in August 2020 for Jose Mourinho for £15m, rising to £20m after add-ons. While Dier arrived in north London from Sporting Lisbon back in August 2014 for just £4m. But the duo are out of contract in 2025 and 2024 respectively.
90min added that Dier has held talks with Tottenham about a potential contract extension. But the discussions stalled after the 29-year-old endured a dip in form during the 2022/23 term. He also ended the season on the sidelines after requiring surgery for his groin injury.

Postecoglou could have key roles to fill if the pair leave Spurs
Dier still started in 31 of his 33 Premier League appearances throughout the 22/23 season. He also recorded two goals and an assist during wins over Southampton, Leicester City and Chelsea. While Hojbjerg started all 35 of his top-flight outings for four goals and five assists.
Tottenham selling Dier and Hojbjerg would leave key roles for Postecoglou to replace in his first transfer window there, then. But the pair, seemingly, accept that they must impress in pre-season to merit places in the Australian’s plans with Spurs open to offers this summer.
