The Athletic had earlier claimed that treble-winners City are planning to make a bid for Rice, adding that Arsenal have been in talks with the Hammers for a while now but are unable to come to an agreement over a fee.

City are a very wealthy club, and the Citizens should be able to meet West Ham’s transfer demands for Rice.
