Gabby Agbonlahor has warned Liverpool that if they ‘struggle’ again next season, then he thinks the booming league of Saudi Arabia will target, Mohamed Salah.

The Saudi Pro League is making a lot of headlines of late because of the major transfer deals they are pulling off, from recently signing Cristiano Ronaldo to current Ballon d’Or holder, Karim Benzema.

The one that has surprised many is Ruben Neves who, at 26, is leaving the elite leagues of Europe and closing in on a transfer to Saudi Arabia from Wolves, with Agbonlahor claiming that ‘it wouldn’t be a surprise’ if Mo Salah joins him, as he told talkSPORT.

Given that Liverpool’s star man on the right flank is a Muslim player, then there is every chance that his door is knocked, whether this summer or later down the line.

Not only that, at 31, he fits the bracket of players the Saudis are targeting, even though the likes of Neves and Bernardo Silva can change that tune.

Nonetheless, Agbonlahor was given a list of players who he thinks could make a move to Saudi, and when Salah’s name came up, this is what he had to say.

“I think that’s the one where if Liverpool don’t challenge this season, because they are in the Europa League, he isn’t going to want to play in that, really,” said Agbonlahor. “He wants to play in the Champions League.

“But if they struggle this season, then it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s a signing that happened.”

Salah can still win more at Liverpool

The £35 million forward (Sky Sports) probably wouldn’t fetch such a price now across Europe, because of his age, but Saudi might and probably would put that down on the table for Liverpool.

It will be interesting to see their reaction, if that happens because, at the end of the day, money talks.

But, of course, Salah still has a lot more to do on Merseyside, including having another swing at winning it all again, from the Premier League title to the Champions League.
