Newcastle United owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), really want to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, according to a report.

Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Newcastle United owners, PIF, want to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

PIF reportedly feel that Brazil international forward Neymar is the exact kind of player that Newcastle should target.

90min reported in May that PSG are willing to sell £606,000-a-week (SalarySport) superstar this summer.

Jones said about Newcastle and Neymar: “You read the rumours and probably laughed them off – but you never know!

“It is likely that this is exactly the sort of signing boss Howe would like to avoid right now but among the owners, PIF, there is a feeling he is exactly who they should be targeting if there is intent to bring a new wide creator into the team.

“If you’re going to go there, why not sign one of the best in the business?”

Could Newcastle United sign Neymar from PSG?

In our opinion, it is unlikely that Newcastle United will be able to sign global superstar Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

Yes, Newcastle are a big and established club in the Premier League who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but the Magpies are not ready to win major trophies right now.

Can you really see Newcastle challenge for the Premier League title or reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League next season?

Neymar, 31, is used to winning major titles with PSG and Barcelona.

We do not think that the Brazilian would be particularly tempted to move to Newcastle, who would find it hard to finish in the Premier League top four next season, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all set to get stronger.
