Patrick Vieira is under consideration to become the new Leeds United boss as a replacement for Sam Allardyce.

Leeds United are considering a move to bring in Patrick Vieira as their new manager this summer.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Leeds want to appoint a manager who has worked in the Premier League and Championship.

That means Scott Parker and Daniel Farke – two managers who have multiple promotions to the Premier League on their CV’s – are prime contenders.

Vieira is in the mix too though, despite having never worked in the Championship.

The Frenchman is out of work at the moment having been sacked by Crystal Palace back in March.

Vieira would surely love to get back into management after a mixed record of 22 wins, 25 draws and 27 defeats at Palace.

TalkSPORT reported in March that Leeds were still keen on Vieira after eyeing him up to replace Jesse Marsch in February.

Leeds have since been relegated to the Championship but may still believe that they can attract Vieira to Elland Road.

Leeds United may prioritise Championship expertise over big-name Patrick Vieira

Vieira would bring incredible name value based on an unbelievable playing career, especially with Arsenal.

When you talk about Premier League greats, Vieira is right up near the top of the list.

That would make Vieira an interesting appointment for Leeds, no doubt hoping that his reputation in the game would bring a certain level of authority at Elland Road.

Whether Vieira is really the right man for Leeds is another matter though.

Vieira started well at Palace but it all fizzled out with goals hard to come by towards the end of his time at Selhurst Park.

There are reasonable question marks over Vieira’s managerial ability and his lack of Championship experience may count against him.

Other candidates Parker and Farke have won promotion out of the Championship on multiple occasions, which is what Leeds are looking for after relegation from the Premier League.

Vieira may be the biggest name, but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if Leeds prioritised Parker or Farke ahead of him.
